Who Invented Horsebit Loafers?
Horsebit loafers were invented in 1953 by Aldo Gucci, hence why they are mostly known as Gucci loafers. It all began with a trip to New York, when Aldo noticed many people wearing plain loafers. That's when he came up with the idea of adding a metal detail, similar to a horsebit snaffle. The decorative element has two interlocked rounded ends, that symbolise the letter 'G', to represent the brand.
